CCI 41 Small Rifle 5.56mm NATO-Spec Military Primers
Military-style semi-auto rifles often lack firing pin retraction springs. Without careful ammunition assembly, a “slam-fire” can happen before the bolt locks. The military uses different techniques and components to manage this, including primers with different sensitivity specifications than their commercial equivalents. CCI #41 Mil-spec primers are made to the same specifications of the U.S. Military and reduce the chances of a slam-fire. While designed for you in Military-style semi-auto rifles, they use the same data as CCI magnum primers.
Note from CCI:
- Effective slam-fire prevention requires more than mil-spec primers. Headspace, chamber condition, firing pin shape and protrusion, bolt velocity, case condition, and other factors can affect slam-fire potential.

I use the CCI No. 41 primers for .223 Rem/5.56 NATO, 300 Blackout, 6.5 Grendel and 450 Bushmaster. I don’t experience any primer punch through/back out, fail to fire or primer slam fire (all AR uppers that I own use Titanium Firing Pins). I’ve never lost confidence in using these primers for my AR15 platforms or my Mini 14’s. I’ve been through about 5,000+ CCI No. 41’s with another 3,000 of the above case assortment on deck and in the pipeline right now (Case Polisher running day and night as I type this review) Based on my experience only, I highly recommend that you give this CCI product a try.
